DESCRIPTION: Philadelphia has lower rates of bystander CPR intervention than the national average, so it's important we increase the number of Philadelphians who know CPR and feel empowered to step in. Let's keep our community safe and healthy!\n\nIn this training, the staff from the Mobile CPR Project, a Penn Medicine community-based group, will cover how to recognize and respond to a cardiac arrest, how to perform effective hands-only CPR (no more mouth-to-mouth!), and how to use an AED. You will have the opportunity to practice CPR on a manikin to see how well you are doing and will get to practice using an AED. We'll also address common fears & misconceptions about CPR and work to overcome them together.\n\nNote: The Mobile CPR Project teaches any person regardless of age or occupation. You do NOT need to be a medical professional to learn CPR. There is NO age restriction. It doesn't matter if you're a schoolchild or older adult, any attempt at CPR will help someone's survival rate. We should all be prepared to give CPR because cardiac arrests can happen to anyone regardless of age.\n\nThis is not a certification course. Traditional certified courses have financial & time barriers for many individuals. The Mobile CPR Project offers free 1hr trainings to make CPR easy and accessible. Certification is just a piece of paper--it doesn’t guarantee anyone will help during an emergency.
