Ready to take a deep dive into the natural world? Philadelphia artist Meg Lemieur is teaching 4 classes that will heighten your senses and sharpen your note-taking and sketching skills. Classes are all on Saturdays and are scheduled, rain or shine, for 9/19, 9/26, 10/3, and 10/10.
Drawing from the practice of Nature Journaling, these classes teach observational tools that will help you record the wild world around us. Utilizing our inner scientist, writer, and artist, we will learn to capture the intricate details we find. These four classes will provide an encouraging and supportive atmosphere to learn the tools and techniques for observing, recording, and sketching our surroundings at Glen Foerd. Each class will explore a new area and is great for all experience levels. Classes will build on each other, but you can also sign up for one at a time.
Suggested materials to bring: - your favorite pencils - such as a mechanical pencil and a 4b - your favorite erasers - such as a kneaded eraser and a hard eraser like a pink eraser - your favorite sketchbook - Meg suggests a notebook with a hard back or bringing a clipboard so you have a hard surface to draw on
- colored pencils/markers/paints/brushes to add some pops of color - fiber-tipped pens like Micron pens - water bottle/snack if desired - a portable chair or blanket to sit on
Suggested clothing:
- weather-appropriate clothing with layers so you can adjust as the sun warms up
- sun protection like light long sleeves or sunblock
